 Tackling Vehicles

When a player is on foot he or she can be highly vulnerable to attack from vehicles, due to their superior firepower or their simple ability to run you over and kill you instantly. It is altogether quite hard for an infantry man to single-handedly take on a vehicle, unless of coarse you now how.

Warthog
The warthog is probably the most commonly used vehicle in halo, it is fast, heavily armed (if a gunner is present) and quite manoeuvrable except for its tendency to flip and roll which we can use to our advantage by helping it along a bit with the odd explosion or two. The easiest way to do this is with the use a rocket launcher. Another good way to deal with a warthog at close range especially in a situation where the vehicles manoeuvrability is restricted is to lay into it with an AR. You must keep dodging the warthog so as it doesn't run you over. If the warthog comes towards you and you decide to try to and jump over it then remember you cant jump the gun on the back, so always jump forward and to one side so as to avoid the turret. Try to stay on the left hand side of the hog from where the driver is more vulnerable. Remember to take into account that this method only really works on a hog without a gunner because quite simply the assault rifle is no mach for the M41 LAAG. You can use a similar method at longer distances using the pistol instead of the AR.

Scorpion
The scorpion is probably the hardest vehicle to take on in fact, if confronted with one of these the only possible option available is to get out a rocket launcher and fire away, this should only require one rocket but in some cases you may need to empty both barrels. If you don't have a rocket launcher to hand the only thing you can do is through grenades. In fact the scorpion is the only vehicle where frag grenades can be used to much affect due to their slow pace of movement .There is only one way of taking out a scorpion that doesn't involve randomly firing at it with whatever you've got, but it must be done from long range and this is through the use of a sniper rifle. Now you can hit a scorpion pretty much any where to take the driver out but it will take about fifteen to 20 rounds. If you want to do it with a bit more speed and style then aim for the small grate on the front of the tank just underneath the cannon through which the driver can be seen and with one or two shots on that sweet spot you should be able to get yourself quite a prestigious kill.
When it comes to avoiding and skilfully dodging the scorpion the only thing to do is just simply run and hide and any thing else is suicide because if the primary cannon don't get you there's still that big old chain gun to tend with. If you're interested in dying for a greater cause then there a slight chance that by sticking close to the vehicle you may trick the driver into firing at too close range and blowing themselves up in the process of killing little old you.

Ghosts
At close range ghosts also take a bit of dealing with but the lack of enclosure leaves its rider open to sniper fire. This can prove difficult due to its swiftness and agility but there is one easy way to shoot a ghost and this is of coarse using our good friend the rocket launcher. You can try and shoot at them with what small arms you have to hand but those plasma canons really pack a punch and if you're not killed by them then chances are you'll be taken down by those big nasty wings on the side. The best way to avoid being hit by them is to jump them; this is done in a way similar way to jumping a hog: up, forward and to one side whilst crouching in mid-air so as to avoid the main body of the ghost and its rider.

Plasma Grenades
There is one more tactic that like the rocket launcher is very universal to all vehicles even ones that exist only in campaign and that is tagging or sticking the vehicle with a plasma grenade. This is pretty easy and it doesn't matter where you hit the vehicle except on warthogs where plasmas will be found to bounce straight off the wind screen.
