Shotgun Any close combat fighter’s favourite weapon. The shot gun at close range can tear through full shields and health, killing instantly. But its slow rate of fire means firing prematurely can cost you your life. At long range the shotgun is useless and any attempt to shoot someone more than 15 feet away is just a waist of ammo. Proves effective against vehicles but melee is slow.
Pistol Probably the best weapon in the game, works great for long and short range targets. The pistol can fire in two ways: there’s full auto where you just hold the trigger down and there’s single fire where you pull the trigger for each shot. The latter is a lot more accurate and is the recommended choice for all sharp shooting pistol lovers. Another good tip is to go for the head for although its a lot harder to hit the head than it is to get body shots, it douse a lot more damage and this combined with the single fire technique means you can get kills in just a few shots. The pistol has one downfall and that is its incredibly slow melee (MC just can’t resist showing off with that gunslinger routine).
Assault Rifle This is defiantly the worst gun in the game and is often the starting weapon on many games. It is a good idea to get rid of it pretty much straight away. Poor at long range and poor at medium range, even when using the more accurate burst fire technique. The AR’s only advantage emptying a whole mag at close range in full auto fire might just kill someone quite quickly and if it doesn’t its always got that reasonably speedy melee to finish them off. Reloading takes time so make sure to do so at every opportunity.
Sniper Rifle The most accurate gun in the game where you aim, the bullet goes but not as instantaneously as you might think so aim a few feet in front of your target. A head shot from a sniper rifle is an instant kill so try to get as many as possible because they save ammo and look cool too. When looking for targets use the 2X zoom then once you’ve found you’re pray switch to 10X and go for the kill. Contrails give away your position instantly so don’t camp for too long and watch your motion tracker because someone might just take you by surprise and smack you in the back while your concentrating getting another kill. An empty sniper rifle is a useful tool not for its melee because that sucks (not a problem for most snipers) but as a spotting scope to keep an eye on your teem or the enemy. When faced with snipers then don’t just run at them in a straight line and avoid jumping because this just makes you an easy target. Instead move more unpredictably, side stepping and crouching. Watch shots fired because after four they’ll have to reload.
Rocket Launcher Fun for the carrier and sheer annoyance for whoever is on the receiving end, the rocket has good splash damage meaning there is no point in aiming directly at your target and probably missing. Instead aim at the ground by their feet. The same tactic can be used with a low ceiling or nearby wall but watch out when moving through areas with funny obstructions and protrusions (e.g. Hang ‘em High tombstones) in case you miss and blow yourself up. Jumping is always a good idea when rockets are in the equation because being in the air puts a better position to fire in relationship with your opponent and makes you a harder target for other rocketiers to hit. For the same reason as jumping, being on high ground will give you an advantage over your rivals. The rockets have a very low velocity so remember when aiming at a moving target lead them quite a bit and let them move straight into its path. The Rocket launcher makes a good all round weapon: long-range due to the 2x scope, short range (noob style) and anti vehicle with its only downfalls are the cool down time which delays the firing of the second shot, the lengthy reload time and its slow melee.
Fragmentation Grenade Frags have shorter fuse (one second once it is still) than its covy counterpart which makes them great for close combat fighting. They also are a lot harder to see making them stealthier and better for ambushing and surprising your enemy. If you’re ever fighting a loosing battle and watching your health go down, then just before you die throw a frag to hopefully do some extra damage to your killer. The “suicide grenade” as this action has been named, may even get you a kill when you’re not even alive. This can be done with plasmas but most of the time your killer will be gone before it explodes (unless you stick the bastard, in which case they’ll be well and truly screwed).
M4 LAAG (Warthog chain gun) Pull the trigger and don't let go.
